Things To Do

Fishing
The fishing is excellent along this beautiful river. Well maintained s paths flank the riverbank; endless stretches of quiet waterways with a wide range of fish.

Kayaking
There is a kayak hire shop and training school in the village, just around the corner from the house. It is possible to kayak all the way to Jarnac and the school will collect you if it's too much effort to paddle back upstream!

Walking
Miles of walks following the river or through the vineyards and fields of sunflowers in the summer.

Cycling
The French love their cycling! The Tour De France passes from Cognac to Angoulême this year.

Swimming
Apart from the pool at the house, there is a lovely natural pool in the bend in the river, near the houes, with its own water shute, which is a great favourite with the children.

The Coast
The nearest coast is Royan - 45 minutes drive - but there are other lovely resorts at La Rochelle and the sophisticated Ile De Ré.
